Don't like, don't read.
It is that time of the month again...
A whole post about Harry Potter!
YAAAAAY!
Oh and mostly about Severus Snape..
Totally fangirling. |
Thank you very much! Settle down now, settle down.
Let's start.
Severus Snape.
A very intriguing, mysterious and spooky man.
Many people hated him him even after he was relieved to be a hero.
Actual quotes. Doh. |
Did
you know?
Apparently
when Alan Rickman was a child, he had a speech disability, where his
lower jaw was very tight. It made his words indistinctive and
muffled. He still kinda has a slight speech impediment but it makes
his voice even more distinctive! Watching him when he plays the
part of Severus Snape his jaw does look awkward when he opens his
mouth wide or has to shout, I have wondered if it's painful at all.
He does the whispering Snape brilliantly, barely moves his mouth but
his voice still carries. Must be all that theatre work!
Also,
i found out that he flinches when a gun recoils and that is why they
only show him shotting a gun once in Die Hard, because he kept
flinching. I thought that was cool.
What he can do with a
syllable, most actors only wish they could do with a speech (Never
has the line "Turn to page 394" been so menacing.) He's
just so compelling, I wish there was more of him. Of course, I say
that about a lot of the actors, but it's true. I definitely admire
his ability to say much so with so little, and I think it serves him
very well here.
^ Click that and hear his velvety voice. :)

Tim
Roth was originally cast and then backed out. I couldn't imagine a
better person than Alan in the role of Severus Snape. According to
IMDB: "Tim Roth was a leading contender for the role of
Professor Severus Snape Roth dropped out of contention, however, to
pursue his role as General Thade in Tim Burton's adaptation of
'Planet of the Apes' (2001)." After that JK Rowling handpicked
Alan Rickman.
Alan Rickman was chosen by Empire Magazine as
one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in film history. He was number 34 in the 1995 edition.

know that he inherited his nose from his father.

This is the tattoo given to every Death Eater and is a skull with a
snake protruding from its mouth.
Snape speaks barely a whisper but you catch every word. Soft, smooth and calm. If he's in a bad mood, it becomes icy, cold and dangerous. He usually uses his smooth voice when he turns on the charm. Alan Rickman is perfect for this role. His voice is like velvet!
Clothing
Snape
sweeps around in his long, black swishing robes. Not known to wear
anything different although he sometimes wears green at Slytherin
Quidditch match's. We also know that he sleeps in a long, grey
nightshirt. In the movies, he wears robes which are buttoned all the
way up the front, up the sleeves and on his ankles. We also
know he wore greying underpants when he was younger.
Cruel,
sarcastic, vindictive, enjoys humiliating Gryffindor's and favours
Slytherin. He's dominating, enigmatic and can take control of
situations other teacher's cannot. He is also feared by all the
students and no doubt some staff are also a bit scared of him. He's
complex, secretive and not much is known about him. That's why some
people find him so intriguing. He's also witty, cunning and highly
intelligent. Another quality is his bravery; he must have a lot
of courage to spy on the most powerful wizard in the world. He's also
loyal to Dumbledore and shows a lot of respect towards him.
Intelligence
Snape
is very, very clever! Even some of his 'enemies' recognise this.
Sirius says he's clever and cunning and Lupin say's that he is lucky
to work alongside a wizard with such high potion-making abilities.
His puzzle, in the first book, involves the use of logic and he must
be logical to have made the puzzle in the first place. He's also a
poet! Yes, in the first book he wrote the clue to the puzzle I
mentioned previously and it all rhymes. Harry also says, during book
four, that when Snape discovers an egg and a map (the Marauder's
Map), he puts two and two together as only Snape could! Harry must
also realises the extent of this mans intellect. He can also do
'Legilimency' which means when you try to get inside someone else's
mind and it's supposed to be really difficult so he must be clever if
he can do that!
His
Past
In
1965, Severus Snape was born! No-one knows what happened in his life
between here and when he attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and
Wizardry. We do know that he may possibly have had a
traumatic childhood as in one of his memories his parents were
arguing. Poor Sevvikins. Sevvikins? Where the hell did that come
from?! Anyhoos...in 1976, at the age of 11, Severus Snape began his
six year stay at Hogwarts. When he started Hogwarts, it is said that
he knew more curses than half the students in the seventh year and
was famous for his fascination with the Dark Arts. He was part of a
group of Slytherin's, half of which turned out to be Death Eaters.
According to Sirius Black, he was a, 'slimy, oily, greasy-haired
kid.' He was also in the same year as James Potter, Remus Lupin,
Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew all of which he hated - especially
James Potter, Harry's father. They loathed each other and Dumbledore
compares their hatred to how Harry and Draco hate each other. The
main reason they hated each other was because of a practical joke
they were going to play on Snape. Every month, Lupin went somewhere
and Snape was trying to find out what he was up to in an attempt to
get him expelled. Snape had seen Lupin crossing the grounds with
Madam Pomfrey as she led him towards the Whomping Willow. Black
thought it would be highly amusing to tell Snape that all he had to
do was prod the knot on the tree with a long stick and he'd be able
to follow Lupin. Snape tried, but if he had got to the Shrieking
Shack (which you get to through a tunnel under the Whomping Willow)
he would have met a fully grown werewolf. Lupin was an Animagus which
means he could change into an animal. If Snape had got to the house,
he would probably have been killed. When Potter found out what Black
had done, he went after Snape and pulled him back although Snape saw
Lupin in his werewolf form and Dumbledore forbid him to tell anyone.
According to Lupin and Sirius, James hated Snapey because he dabbled
in the Dark Arts and Snapey hated James because he was popular and
good at everything. I'm sure there was more to it than that though.
Also, we discovered in OotP that he was bullied by Sirius, Lupin and
James (and Pettigrew too I suppose, but he seemed too busy wetting
himself) In Snape's worst memory, he had been hung upside down and
humiliated by James and Sirius in front of loads of people. We also
discovered be wore greying underwear and
may possibly (note, possibly is
in italics so we don't know for sure) have had his
undergarments removed by James. Was also given the nicknames
'Snivellus' and 'Snivelly'.In 1982, at the age of 17, Snape left Hogwarts and it is not known what he then did. Between then and 1988, he became a Death Eater; a follower of Voldemort. In 1988, just before the downfall of Voldemort, he left the Death Eaters and became a spy for Dumbledore at 'great personal risk'. Snape has never been accused of being a Death Eater as Dumbledore vouched for him when the activities of the Death Eaters were being investigated by the Council of Magical Law.
In 1988, Snape turned to the side of good and began to teach at Hogwarts. He had applied for the Defence Against the Dark Arts job but was given the Potions job instead for reasons Dumbledore has not shared with us yet. In 1997, Harry Potter, son of James and Lily Potter, attended Hogwarts where Snape was Potions Master. Although he hates Harry, Snape worked hard to protect him from Voldemort as he could not bear being in James Potter's debt and felt this would make him and Harry's father even.
During the resurrection of Voldemort, You-Know-Who said the following words:
"And here we have 6 missing Death Eaters 3 dead in my service. One too cowardly to return He will pay. One, who I believe has left me forever he will be killed, of course and one, who remains my most faithful servant, and who has already re-entered my service.
It is presumed that the one who has left Voldie forever is Snape. It is not known what will happen next. Some believe Snape will begin spying for Dumbledore again. Some think he will return to Voldemort as a Death Eater. Some even have the terrible thought that he may be killed. Towards the end of book four, Snape was mysteriously sent somewhere by Dumbledore:
Severus, said Dumbledore, turning to Snape, you know what I must ask you to do. If you are ready . If you are prepared
I am, said Snape.
He looked slightly paler then usual, and his cold, black eyes glittered strangely.
Then good luck, said Dumbledore, and he watched, with a trace of apprehension on his face, as Snape swept wordlessly after Sirius.
Even now, in this time when most of us behold a copy of Book 5, we are not totally sure where he went. He might possibly have gone to the Death Eaters to spy. I definitely think he's spying. My reasons...
"That is just as well, Potter," said Snape coldly, "because you are neither special nor important, and it is not up to you to find out what the Dark Lord is saying to his Death Eaters."
"No - that's your job, isn't it?" Harry shot at him.
He had not meant to say it; it had burst out of him in temper. For a long moment they stared at each other, Harry convinced he had gone too far. But there was a curious, almost satisfied expression on Snape 's face when he answered.
"Yes, Potter," he said, his eyes glinting. "That is my job. Now, if you are ready, we will start again."
You see? It's 'his job' to see what the 'Dark Lord' is 'saying' to his wonderful 'Death Eaters'. I'm using funny ' ' things now! First italics, now 'funny things'. Anyway, he is soooo spying on them! But what I can't figure out is that if he is spying, why haven't the other Death Eaters found out yet? I mean, a terrifically intelligent man such as, say, Mr. Malfoy would know that Snapey is supposed to be on the side of good so he should be suspicious about Snapey popping up now and again to have a tea and biscuits with old Voldie. I don't know, I can't do all these theory things. We do know, however, that he is a member of the Order of the Phoenix and does reports on what he's up to. He also suggests that he's out there 'risking his life' whilst carrying out this work.
Listen guys, if you lost your interests already.. I'm sorry xD
It's just a topic I've been wanting to talk about. :)
Part 2 coming soon.
