Marriage Equality! :D

This is a topic I've been wanting to write about for a while now.
Marriage Equality
I support it so much.
If you have a problem with that you, you should leave right now (and go bang your head against a wall).
Why should people be labeled? Black, Asian, Gay, Bisexual, Christian..
LABELS ARE FOR CLOTHES!

Sexuality is nothing to be ashamed of.

Oh and if you're reading this, and hate gay people..
You're a homophobe. Let me tell you one this about homophobic people..
75 % percent are closeted scared gays confused about their sexuality.
The rest are mostly very religious Christians.
Why not experiment? What's wrong with that? :D

Oh and adoption.
That's a pretty serious topic too.
Why shouldn't gay/lesbian couples adopt?
Hmm let's see.
The thing most people fear is that the children of same sex couples will also
become homosexual. Do you know how many children are raised
in a very conservative family, surrounded by heterosexuals and they
still are homosexual? Take the picture under as an example.
"Same sex couples will influence their children to become homosexual
or even pressure them." - Homophobic people
Lemme just say..Oh god.. You're so wrong it's cute.
If they're good people they will love their children whatever they are
like all other good parents. They would only want the best for their children.

Hey, do you know how many children there is in the world currently that are/were
raised only by their mother or father because their other parent died or
left them. A lot.
Do you know how many children is homeless? A lot.
Do you know how many children there is in orphanages right now?
Without parents waiting for someone to adopt them?
A lot.
So you would rather let those children rot away in orphanages without anyone
than let same-sex couples adopt them, give them a home and all the love
they can give? It would make multiple people very happy.
How about that, eh?

Okay let's go over to Christians.
So your religion doesn't allow you to support gay people..
Lets see what else does your religion forbid you to do. You'd be surprised ;)


With all this talk about marriage equality and gay rights, there are many arguments for and against. Because a lot of people just mindlessly quote the Bible in their reasons against, I decided to personally examine what the Bible has to say on the matter.

Leviticus 18: 22 - “You must not lie with a man as with a woman. This is a hateful thing.” (Note: this doesn’t say anything about lesbians)

Let’s take a look at some other things the Bible forbids.

Leviticus 19: 27 - “You are not to round off your hair at the edges nor trim the edges of your beard.”

So your hair’s looking a little unruly today? Needs a trim? Too bad.

Leviticus 19: 28 - “You are not to gash your bodies when someone dies, and you are not to tattoo yourselves. I am Yahweh.”

Oh, you wanted to get your wedding date or your date of birth inked on your arm? Sorry, Bible says no.

Leviticus 20: 18 - “The man who lies with a woman during her monthly periods and uncovered her nakedness: he has laid bare the source of her blood, and she has uncovered the source of her blood: both of them must be outlawed from their people.”

You and your girlfriend/wife are both feeling a little horny but it’s that time of the month? Nah, better not.

Deuteronomy 14: 3-6 - “You must eat nothing that is detestable. These are the animals you may eat: ox, sheep, goat, deer, gazelle, roebuck, ibex, antelope, oryx, mountain sheep.”

Guess you can’t order that barbecue duck, or the chicken piccata, or the sweet and sour pork then. Wait, there’s this lovely seafood - NO!!!

Deuteronomy 22: 11 - “You must not wear clothing woven part of wool, part of linen.”

Oh there was this lovely top for sale and…nah, forget it.

Deuteronomy 23: 3 - “A man whose testicles have been crushed or whose male member has been cut off is not to be admitted to the assembly of Yahweh.”

You’ve had testicular cancer? Sorry, you can’t come to church.

Deuteronomy 25: 5 - “If brothers live together and one of them dies childless, the dead man’s wife must not marry a stranger outside the family.”

Look honey, I know your husband just died and it’s very sad and all, but if you ever want to start dating again…these are your only available options.

Deuteronomy 25: 11-12 - “When two men are fighting together, if the wife of one intervenes to protect her husband from the other’s blows by putting out her hand and seizing the other by the private parts, you shall cut her hand off and show no pity.”

Shit…that guy’s holding a gun to my husband’s head. I should do something…wait, better not.

Now, let’s take a look at other messages presented in the Bible.

Matthew 22: 34-40 - “But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees they got together and, to disconcert him, one of them put a question, ‘Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?’ Jesus said ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets also.’”

Luke 6: 36-37 - “Be compassionate as your Father is compassionate. Do not judge and you will not be judged yourselves; do not condemn and you will not be condemned yourselves.”

So what can we conclude from this?

The Bible doesn’t say anything about lesbians
The Bible has many rules and regulations, some of which are not followed even by the most abiding Christians.
Jesus Christ preached about love and compassion to people. He served people, gave everyone a fair go and supported people who were deemed social outcasts. You know who Jesus hung out with? Twelve dudes and a prostitute. You know who Jesus’s parents were? Mary, Joseph and God - yeah, that’s right, he had two dads (or mums…who knows).
Therefore, you can’t simply say “gay people are the devil incarnate because the Bible says so”, because (other than the fact that you’re just spewing out mindless quotes without putting any real depth or critical thought into your argument) the Bible says a lot of things, most of which people take with a grain of salt. But the Bible also says we should be loving and compassionate, and that we shouldn’t judge or condemn others based on who they are. That’s what Christianity is about.

Oh and marriage equality shouldn't be voted on. That's why it is called Gay Rights.
It's a right. People have a right to do it. Simple as that.
