This is a story about one of my friends I talk to every day on skype. I don't know him in real life, he lives in Asia, Quatar, Doha while I live in Europe, Croatia, Zagreb. We're pretty far away but that doesn't stop us to talk daily and have fun. We have many things in common, from loving Minecraft to loving Trains (the band doh). One of the things we have in common also is supporting the LGBT community.LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. He reads my blog and he was really touched by my post about marriage equality. He supported the LGBT community before but after reading it he realised the seriousness of the situation. This post is dedicated to him. Thank you for being who you are. My little drama queen. :)
For you buddy! :) |
He decided to write about marriage equality. I don't need to tell you how proud I was of him.He let me read it and I loved it. I was pretty excited about his project. He could inspire his classmates, open their eyes and reassure some closeted homosexuals. But when he told his teacher what he wrote about he/she told him he couldn't write about that and to go see the principle. He went to the principle..
She said the theme was inappropriate and she didn't want people to think his school allows and supports marriage equality. She also told him to pick another topic and write about it and never mention this again. This is sad people.. this is sad.
Did you know..?
More than 30,000 Americans commit suicide each year, and 5,000 of these people are teenagers. 1 in 3 suicides amongst teenagers are committed by homosexual ones.
I don't know the exact numbers and statistics on how many teenagers commit suicide, are thrown out or are bullied every year but it's a lot. The number don't matter anyway because..
Even one is too many.
Here's a story about a boy being thrown out at the age of 7. Can you guess why? He was gay. His parents didn't tolerate it.

This Sunday will be the 11th Gay Pride in Zagreb. Thousands of people will show up with banners, rainbow flags and smiles on their faces. They will constantly be surrounded by thousands of policeman.. guarding them. From who you ask? Other people. Also human beings.. but with different opinions. Homophobic people. The first Gay Pride in Zagreb was nothing like that. It was even worse. Especially the one in Split (another city in Croatia). People were yelling, screaming insults in their way.Throwing rocks.Throwing explosives.People got injured. They were taken to the hospitals. Even cameramen and journalists were injured.Police couldn't stop them. Instead of protecting people in the Gay Pride they started evacuating them.It was that bad.
Listen up everybody. It's the 21st century.
Time for change. Are black people still slaves? They still can't marry whites? Other races are still discriminated? Apartheid is still here? The answer is no.
See some change? Yeap. |
I'm currently following american politics, I'm very curious how is this
all gonna end with Obama, McCain and Mitt Romney.
I mentioned in my previous post about marriage equality how
Mitt Romney and McCain are against and Obama is for.
First of all I need to say something.
Thank you Obama! You're an inspiration. :)
Where was I? Right.
Gays and lesbians serving in the military.
"Mitt
Romney is against the idea of letting gays and lesbians serve
actively in the US Military".
That physically made me feel sick. Men and women who are willing to give their lives for their country and their freedom cannot simply because of their sexual orientation? Something that has NOTHING to do with how well they will serve. These men and women should be applauded for their bravery and patriotism, not condemned for something personal that they cannot control.
What's next? Gays and lesbians can't vote?

Aren't we going backwards? Do we have to fight for woman's right all over again?
And again with other races not being discriminated?
Oh, I know! Let's take away that stupid clause in job applications that say they comply with the government by not discriminating based on sex, religion, race, or sexual orientation! And while we're at it, why don't we throw in separate bathrooms and water fountains. One for gays and lesbians, one for straight men and woman. After all, who wants to be around a queer? I mean, I might catch their sexual orientation or something if we're in the same vicinity. Because hanging around homosexual people would of course turn you gay, just as hanging around black people turns you black.
This ignorance is ridiculous. In the future, this will change and we will look back on ourselves and feel ashamed. Or, at least those who are anti-LBGT will. Just like looking back at slavery. And women's rights/suffrage. And segregation. In twenty, thirty years, our children are going to see these things in our history books and ask how on Earth people could be so cruel about gays and lesbians.
It's a cycle people. Throughout history this has happened. And it's happening again. A group is targeted, there are hate crimes, laws against them, legislation barring them from fundamental rights. One day this will change. The LBGT group is the next population to be liberated and receive their freedoms.
I know I posted this already but it's hilarious.
Just read it.
12 reasons why Gay Marriage should be illegal.
- Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.
- Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can’t legally get married because the world needs more children.
- Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
- Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
- Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are property, blacks can’t marry whites, and divorce is illegal.
- Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.
- Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.
- Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
- Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
- Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
- Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven’t adapted to things like cars or longer life-spans.
- Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a “separate but equal” institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.
Exactly.
Even Homer supports it
Why shouldn't you?
If you still haven't changed your mind, read this.
